How to Select the Right Model of Bulldozer Blade?
Host model
Bulldozer blades are 'machine-specific'. Different brands and models (e.g. Shantui SD22, SD32, TY160 and TY320) have different blade structures, mounting hole positions and dimensions. First, the host model must be confirmed, followed by selection from the blade model list provided by the original manufacturer or compatible suppliers.
Blade types
Bulldozer blades include straight-tilt, angle, U-shaped, and semi-U blades. Blades are also categorised by operating conditions: standard, heavy-duty, rock, wetland, desert and coal-pushing. Each blade type corresponds to distinct blade plate shapes, lengths and mounting methods. The blade type must be clearly identified before selecting a blade plate.
How can the compatibility of different brands of bulldozer blades be judged? Is there a universal interchange table?
The core judgment criteria are:
1. Blade cross-sectional dimensions
According to GB/T 21940-2008, the key dimensions of the blade include:
Width (W): 152 mm, 203 mm, 254 mm, 305 mm, 356 mm, 406 mm, etc. standard sizes
Thickness (T): 13 mm, 16 mm, 19 mm, 25 mm, 28 mm, etc. standard thicknesses
Bending radius (R): as specified in the standard
2. Installation bolt hole parameters
This is the most important factor in determining compatibility, including:
Bolt hole diameter: 14.3 mm, 17.5 mm, 20.6 mm, 24.2 mm, 27.4 mm, 34.0 mm, etc. standard sizes
Bolt hole spacing A, B and C types of arrangement (with hole spacing of 140 mm and 280 mm, etc.).
Hole position tolerance: Hole position tolerance must not exceed 3.2 mm, and the concentricity tolerance must not exceed 0.8 mm.
3. Material and hardness requirements
Boron steel (30MnB): Hardness 46-52 HRC, tensile strength 1630 N/mm²
Carbon steel (45#): Hardness 32-38 HRC, tensile strength 1055 N/mm²
The material must comply with the JB/T 2648.2-1995 standard.
Interchange table query method
There is currently no unified brand interchange table, but the following method can be used to make a judgement:
Method 1: Direct measurement comparison
Measure the width, thickness, hole diameter and hole spacing of the existing blade.
Refer to GB/T 21940.- Check the 2008 standard table to confirm whether it is within the tolerance range.
- Check whether the new blade is labelled "Conforms to GB/T 21940-2008" or "Conforms to ISO 7129:1997".
Method 2: Check the product description.
Reputable manufacturers will indicate the applicable machine brands in the product description.
For example, "Applicable to Caterpillar, Komatsu, Santui, Yassian, etc.".
Method 3: Consult the supplier.
Provide the model of the bulldozer and the dimensions of the existing blade.
The supplier will use the standard to determine compatibility.
Important note:
- OEM blades: Original equipment manufacturer blades are fully compatible, but are more expensive.
- Certified blades: Choose a third-party brand labelled "Conforms to GB/T 21940-2008" to ensure interchangeability.
- Tolerance control: Even if the dimensions are the same, the processing accuracy will affect the installation effect. It is recommended to choose a manufacturer with quality certification.
